International Guest at Onekama Church of the Brethren Rev. Dr. Samuel Dali, former president of EYN, the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, will speak at the Onekama Church of the Brethren this Sunday, November 18 at 11 AM. (Marilla and Lakeview churches are coming together with the Onekama congregation for this special event. Please come!) Rev. Dr. Dali’s term as leader of that denomination took place during the worst of the Boko Haram attacks, when even the church headquarters was overrun. EYN churches are mostly located in the part of NIgeria where Boko Haram is most active. His courageous efforts kept EYN alive during that terrible time, when hundreds of churches were destroyed and thousands of church members killed. Many of the Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped in 2014 are Brethren, and the school itself was originally built as a mission school. Dali has much to say about Christian perseverance and strong faith, as well as about how to handle rebuilding and reconciliation in the aftermath of such crisis. He is currently International Scholar in Residence at Bethany Theological Seminary in Richmond, Indiana. Onekama Church of the Brethren is located at 8266 Mill Street, across from the post office in Onekama. The worship service is at 11 AM, followed by a noon potluck and discussion time with Rev. Dr. Dali to follow.
